Biography
Elaine Stritch was an American actress and singer. She made her professional stage debut in 1944 and her Broadway debut in the 1946 comedy Loco. She appeared in numerous stage productions, films and television series over six decades.
Stritch is known for her role as Grandma Babcock in the 2012 film ParaNorman, as Colleen Donaghy in the television series 30 Rock (2006–2012), and for earlier film roles including in Cocoon: The Return (1988) and Monster-in-Law (2005). She received multiple Emmy Awards and a Tony Award for her one-woman show Elaine Stritch at Liberty.
She was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1995. Stritch was born in Detroit, Michigan, on 2 February 1925 and died on 17 July 2014.
