Biography
Elena Jaumandreu i Garrido is a Catalan film editor. Born in Barcelona in 1936, she trained under her father, the editor Francesc Jaumandreu, one of the early practitioners of the craft in Spain. She worked as an assistant on Carlos Saura’s Los golfos (1960) before serving as lead editor on Orson Welles’s Chimes at Midnight (1965).
She edited around fifteen feature films, including Las Vegas, 500 millones (1968) and Interior roig (1983). After returning to Barcelona in 1969 she concentrated on dubbing work. In 2015 she founded a cinema workshop for older people in Cerdanyola del Vallès. She was named an honorary member of the Acadèmia del Cinema Català in 2019 and received the Creu de Sant Jordi in 2021.
