Biography
Elijah Kelley is an American actor, singer and dancer. Born on 1 August 1986 in LaGrange, Georgia, he attended Troup County High School and participated in its show choir. He began performing as a child in family gospel music and Coca-Cola commercials before moving to Los Angeles after graduation to pursue acting.
Kelley made his screen debut in the 1998 television film Mama Flora's Family and appeared in 28 Days (2000). He gained wider recognition for his role as Seaweed J. Stubbs in the 2007 film Hairspray. Subsequent credits include Take the Lead (2006), Red Tails (2012), The Butler (2013) as Charlie Gaines, Strange Magic (2015, voice) and the television series Star (2017–2018). He received ensemble cast awards for Hairspray.
