Biography
Elizabeth Sellars (6 May 1921 – 30 December 2019) was a Scottish actress. Born in Glasgow, she studied law before training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She made her London stage debut in 1946 in The Brothers Karamazov, directed by Peter Brook and starring Alec Guinness, and later performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Sellars entered films with Floodtide (1949) and appeared in a range of British and Hollywood productions, including The Barefoot Contessa (1954) as Jerry, Désirée (1954), 55 Days at Peking (1963) and The Chalk Garden (1964). She also worked regularly in television and on stage, with credits extending into the 1980s.
In 1960 she married surgeon Francis Austin Henley, who died in 2009. Sellars died at her home in France, aged 98.
