Biography
Yueh Hua, also known as Elliot Ngok Wah, was a Hong Kong actor born Leung Lok-wah on 13 July 1942 in Shanghai, China. He emigrated to Hong Kong in 1962 after graduating from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and joined Shaw Brothers Studio, beginning his acting career in 1964. His breakout role came in the 1966 wuxia film Come Drink with Me, in which he played Fan Dapei, also known as the Drunken Cat.
He appeared in over 130 films, often in lead roles, and later worked extensively in television with TVB, including the series Looking Back in Anger. Yueh Hua moved to Canada in the 1990s but returned to Hong Kong for roles from 2006 to 2015. He was married to actress Tien Lie. He died of cancer on 20 October 2018 in Vancouver, British Columbia, aged 76.
