Biography
Ellis W. Carter was an American cinematographer. Born on 2 November 1906 in Ashland, Oregon, he worked in film from the 1930s until his death on 23 October 1964 in Long Beach, California.
Carter served as director of photography on numerous features, including The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957), The Monolith Monsters (1957), The Deadly Mantis (1957), The Mole People (1956), The Land Unknown (1957), The Leech Woman (1960), Twice-Told Tales (1963), Diary of a Madman (1963) and Kissin' Cousins (1964). He also contributed second-unit photography to Around the World in 80 Days (1956) and worked on serials and Westerns. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for cinematography.
