Biography
Elsa Ebbesen, also credited as Elsa Ebbesen-Thornblad, was a Swedish stage and film actress. Born Elsa Gerda Ebbesen on 7 July 1890 in Stockholm, she trained at Dramatens elevskola from 1906 to 1909 and appeared in numerous roles at Dramaten over several decades, including a final stage appearance in 1962.
She made her film debut in 1922 and went on to appear in around sixty films and television productions until 1975, often in supporting or character parts. Her credits include Winter Light (1963) as Magdalena Ledfors and The Touch (1971) as the hospital matron. She was the sister of actress Dagmar Ebbesen and was married to Sven Thornblad.
