Biography
Emilia di Girolamo is a British television screenwriter, showrunner and executive producer of Anglo-Indian and Italian heritage. She holds a first-class degree in Drama from Middlesex University and a PhD on the use of drama-based techniques in the rehabilitation of offenders, work that included several years in UK prisons. She has also written plays, a novel (Freaky, 1999) and articles for The Guardian.
Di Girolamo began her television career writing episodes of EastEnders (2008–2010). She contributed multiple episodes to Law & Order: UK (2009–2013), serving as lead writer and co-producer on later series. Subsequent credits include Medici: Masters of Florence (2016), The Tunnel: Vengeance (2017–2018, as showrunner), the miniseries Deceit (2021) and Three Pines (2022, as creator, head writer and executive producer). She also adapted The Poison Tree for television (2012).
