Biography
Emma De Swaef is a Belgian stop-motion animator and director. She works as a filmmaking duo with Marc James Roels, with whom she has collaborated since the late 2000s.
De Swaef directed and contributed the story to the first segment of the 2022 Netflix anthology The House. She is also known for co-directing and co-writing the stop-motion films This Magnificent Cake! (2018) and Oh Willy... (2012).
She studied documentary filmmaking at Sint-Lukas in Brussels and began incorporating her craft skills into animation with her graduation film Zachte Planten (2008). The duo's work has received numerous festival awards.
