Biography
Erford Holmes Gage (5 April 1912 – 17 March 1945) was an American actor. Born in Northfield, Massachusetts, he began his career on the stage, appearing in Broadway productions including Pygmalion (1938), Macbeth (1941) and They Walk Alone (1941).
Gage moved into film work with RKO Pictures in the early 1940s. He is known for roles such as Jason Hoag in The Seventh Victim (1943), Dr. Schmidt in Hitler's Children (1943), a henchman in Mr. Lucky (1943) and the police captain in The Curse of the Cat People (1944).
In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a staff sergeant in the 20th Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action during the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines.
