Biography
Eric Gorfain is an American violinist, composer and arranger. He is the founder of The Section Quartet, a string ensemble that performs rock and pop songs. His film and television credits include string arrangements for Saw (2004) and original music composition for Whip It (2009) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017), the latter co-composed with Sam Phillips.
Gorfain studied music at UCLA and worked as a studio violinist in Japan before touring as concertmaster with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. He formed The Section Quartet after that experience and has since arranged strings for artists including Def Leppard, Christina Aguilera and Dr. Dre. He is married to singer-songwriter Sam Phillips.
