Biography
Ernest Butterworth was a British actor and writer active in American silent films. Born in Lancashire, England, he appeared in numerous productions from the mid-1910s to the early 1930s, often in supporting or uncredited roles.
His writing credit includes suggesting the story for the 1918 comedy Mr. Fix-It. Butterworth is also known for acting roles in films such as The Love Special (1921), The Knickerbocker Buckaroo (1919) and Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl (1919). He died in California in 1950.
He was the father of actors Frank Butterworth, Ernest Butterworth Jr. and Joe Butterworth.
