Biography
Eskil Eckert-Lundin was a Swedish composer, conductor, arranger and music administrator. Born Eskil Stefan Anton Eckert Lundin on 24 June 1906 in Helsingborg, he formed his first orchestra in 1924 and later led several revue orchestras. He served as music chief at AB Svensk Filmindustri from 1946 to 1953 and as kapellmästare and head of Chinateatern from 1948 to 1965.
He contributed to numerous Swedish films, often as conductor or musical director, including several directed by Ingmar Bergman such as Summer with Monika (1953, composer), Smiles of a Summer Night (1955), The Magician (1958) and Summer Interlude (1951). He was also chairman of the Svenska musikerförbundet from 1941 to 1948 and editor of the magazine Musikern. Eckert-Lundin died on 13 March 1974 in Stockholm.
