Biography
Essmat Mahmoud (also credited as Esmat Mahmoud or عصمت محمود) was an Egyptian actress. She was born on 14 September 1937 in Cairo and died on 18 December 2019.
She studied at the Institute of Acting and began her career in radio before moving into cinema. Her film credits include The Empty Pillow (1957) and Cairo Station (1958). She also worked in television, theatre and, for a period, in Kuwait dubbing animated films. She returned to Egyptian productions in the 1990s, appearing in titles such as Hammam in Amsterdam (1999) and the series Amira fi Abdeen (2002). Her final role was in the 2012 series Firqat Nagy Atallah.
Mahmoud was married to actor Tarek Abdel Latif.
