Biography
Ester Dean is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. Born Esther Renay Dean on 15 April 1982 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, she was raised in Tulsa as the youngest of five children and began writing and performing music at a young age.
She moved to Atlanta at the age of 20 to pursue a music career and achieved prominence in the late 2000s as a songwriter, contributing hits for Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and others. Dean has voiced characters in the animated films Rio (2011), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) and Trolls World Tour (2020).
Her acting debut came in the live-action musical Pitch Perfect (2012) as Cynthia Rose, a role she reprised in Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017). She has also appeared on television, including as a judge on American Song Contest in 2022.
