Biography
Eugenio Zanetti (19 October 1946 – 18 September 2026) was an Argentine production designer, dramatist, painter and theatre and opera director. Born in Córdoba, he began his career in Argentine cinema with set designs for films including The Power of Darkness (1979). During the Falklands War he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a production designer on Hollywood films from the late 1980s.
His credits include Slam Dance (1987), Some Girls (1988), Flatliners (1990), Soapdish (1991), Last Action Hero (1993), Restoration (1995), Tall Tale (1995), What Dreams May Come (1998), The Haunting (1999) and There Be Dragons (2011). He won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction for Restoration and received a further nomination for What Dreams May Come. Zanetti also directed and designed productions for the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and maintained a parallel career in painting and playwriting.
