Biography
Evelyn Preer was an American actress who appeared in silent films and on stage in the 1910s and 1920s. Born Evelyn Jarvis in Vicksburg, Mississippi, in 1896, she moved to Chicago after her father's death and began her career in vaudeville before making her film debut in Oscar Micheaux's The Homesteader (1919).
She starred in several films directed by Micheaux, including the role of Sylvia Landry in Within Our Gates (1920). Preer also performed with the Lafayette Players theatrical company and appeared on Broadway. Her later screen credits include an uncredited role in Blonde Venus (1932). She died in Los Angeles in 1932.
