Biography
Evgeniy Chernyaev was a Soviet and Russian production designer and art director. He was born on 5 August 1921 in Simferopol and died on 14 December 1992 in Moscow. He graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1952 and joined Mosfilm the following year.
Chernyaev worked on more than thirty films. He is credited as production designer on Ivan's Childhood (1962) and Andrei Rublev (1966), both directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. Other credits include Legend of Thiel (1976) and The Shore (1984). He received the title of Honoured Artist of the RSFSR in 1976 and the USSR State Prize in 1985 for his work on The Shore.
