Biography
F. L. Green was a British author best known for his 1945 novel Odd Man Out, which was adapted into the 1947 film of the same name directed by Carol Reed. He contributed to the screenplay and the work remains his most recognised.
Born Frederick Laurence Green in Portsmouth in 1902, he married Irish-born Margaret Edwards in 1929 and lived in Belfast from the mid-1930s. He published his first novel, Julius Penton, in 1934. His second, On the Night of the Fire (1939), was also filmed, and he went on to write a further twelve novels, several with Irish settings, up to Ambush for the Hunter in 1952.
Green died in Bristol in 1953.
