Biography
Fabián Bielinsky was an Argentine film director and screenwriter. He graduated from the ENERC film school in Buenos Aires and worked for many years as an assistant director on features and commercials before making his feature debut.
Bielinsky wrote and directed Nine Queens (2000), a crime caper about two con artists that became a major domestic hit in Argentina. It won seven Silver Condor awards, including for best film, best director and best original screenplay, and was later remade in Hollywood as Criminal (2004). His second feature, the neo-noir The Aura (2005), also won multiple Silver Condor awards and was Argentina's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
