Biography
Faredoon A. Irani was an Indian cinematographer who worked in Hindi films. He collaborated extensively with director Mehboob Khan, shooting his films from the mid-1930s onwards, including Anmol Ghadi (1946), Andaz (1949), Aan (1952), Amar (1954) and Mother India (1957).
Irani won the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer twice, for Mother India (1958) and Duniya (1970). On 2 August 1953 he presided over the meeting in Mumbai that led to the formation of the Western India Cinematographers' Association. His career spanned more than forty years.
