Biography
Farida Jalal is an Indian actress who has worked primarily in Hindi films. She made her screen debut in Taqdeer (1967) and appeared in leading and supporting roles through the 1970s and early 1980s. She is credited in over 200 films.
Jalal became widely known for motherly roles in the 1990s and early 2000s, including in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and Student of the Year (2012). She has also worked in television. She has received four Filmfare Awards, two Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards and the Best Actress award at the 2012 Harlem International Film Festival.
