Biography
Fatih Akin (also credited as Fatih Akın) is a German-Turkish film director, screenwriter and producer. He was born on 25 August 1973 in Hamburg, Germany, to Turkish parents, and studied visual communications at the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg, graduating in 2000.
Akin is best known for films including In July (2000), Head-On (2004), The Edge of Heaven (2007), Soul Kitchen (2009), In the Fade (2017), The Golden Glove (2019) and Rhinegold (2022). Head-On, which he also produced, won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. The Edge of Heaven received the Best Screenplay award at Cannes, and In the Fade won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
