Biography

Ferdinand Dörfler is a German actor. Born in 1969 in Munich, he comes from an artistic family; his father was the stage and set designer Walter Dörfler and his grandfather the writer and poet Anton Dörfler. He studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin from 1992 to 1996.

Dörfler began his stage career in the mid-1990s at the Staatstheater Dresden, later working at theatres including the Staatstheater Stuttgart, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and Berliner Ensemble. He has played title roles in productions such as Macbeth, Wilhelm Tell, Jedermann and Schinderhannes. On screen he has appeared in television series including Ku'damm 56 (2016) as Onkel Heiner, Pagan Peak (2019) as Vincenz Lang, Oktoberfest: Beer and Blood (2020) as Lochner-Wirt and September 5 (2024) as Hermann Jäger, as well as the long-running Marie fängt Feuer.
