Biography
Francis Seyrig was a French composer of film music. Born in Paris in 1927, he studied with Olivier Messiaen at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. He composed for a number of French films and shorts in the 1950s and 1960s.
Seyrig is best known for his scores for Alain Resnais's Last Year at Marienbad (1961), written for organ, and Robert Bresson's The Trial of Joan of Arc (1962). He also wrote music for Marie Soleil (1964) and the television adaptation Le Lys dans la vallée (1970). He was the brother of actress Delphine Seyrig, who appeared in Last Year at Marienbad.
Seyrig died in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in 1979.
