Biography
Franco E. Prosperi is an Italian documentary filmmaker and director. He trained in biological and natural sciences, specialising in ichthyology, and began his career making nature documentaries before entering feature filmmaking.
He co-directed Mondo Cane (1962) with Gualtiero Jacopetti and Paolo Cavara, the film that established the mondo genre. He collaborated further with Jacopetti on Mondo Cane 2 (1963), La donna nel mondo (1963), Africa addio (1966), Goodbye Uncle Tom (1971) and Mondo candido (1975). His other directorial credits include Wild Beasts (1984).
