Biography

François Boyer (30 March 1920 – 24 May 2003) was a French screenwriter, novelist and playwright. A graduate of the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC), he is best known for his novel Les Jeux inconnus (1947; later retitled Les Jeux interdits), which provided the story for the 1952 film Forbidden Games directed by René Clément. Boyer received story, screenplay and dialogue credits on the film.

His other screenwriting credits include War of the Buttons (1962), A Monkey in Winter (1962), Weekend at Dunkirk (1964) and The 25th Hour (1967). He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Story for Forbidden Games. Boyer also appeared as an actor in a small role in War of the Buttons.
