Biography
Françoise Bertin was a French actress. She was born in Paris on 23 September 1925 and died in Galan, Hautes-Pyrénées, on 26 October 2014. She began her career in the theatre in 1949 at the Comédie de Saint-Étienne under Jean Dasté and later appeared in productions by directors including Antoine Vitez and Georges Wilson. She received the Molière Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1993.
Bertin appeared in more than 125 films from 1961 onwards. She worked with Alain Resnais on five films, including Last Year at Marienbad (1961), in which she played A Character from the Hotel, Muriel (1963) and The War Is Over (1966). Other notable screen roles include appearances in Diary of a Chambermaid (1964), Tell No One (2006), Hunting & Gathering (2007), Little Nicholas (2009) and Paulette (2012). She was also credited in The Captive (2000) as The grandmother.
