Biography
František Velecký, also credited as Fero Velecký, was a Slovak actor. Born on 8 March 1934 in Zvolen, he trained in civil engineering and worked as a designer before turning to acting in the early 1960s without formal dramatic training. He appeared in more than fifty films from Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, German and Anglo-American productions, working as a freelance performer.
He is best known for his portrayal of Mikoláš, Kozlík’s son, in František Vláčil’s Marketa Lazarová (1967). Other notable roles include appearances in Red Psalm (1972), The Brothers Grimm (2005) as the Old Crone, and Želary (2003) as Old Kutina. He also served briefly as assistant director on Zbehovia a pútnici (1968). Velecký died of cancer on 5 October 2003 in Bratislava.
