Biography
Funmbi Ogunbanwo is a producer and co-founder and CEO of Fatherland Productions, a Lagos- and London-based company focused on African storytelling. She previously qualified as a barrister and solicitor before moving into film and television production.
Ogunbanwo produced the feature My Father's Shadow (2025), directed by Akinola Davies Jr. and co-written with Wale Davies. The film, a UK-Nigeria co-production involving Element Pictures, BBC Film and the BFI, premiered at Cannes in Un Certain Regard, becoming the first Nigerian film selected for the official programme; it received a Caméra d’Or Special Mention. She had earlier produced the Davies brothers’ short Lizard (2020).
She is a graduate of the National Film and Television School and a member of the Producers Guild of America.
