Biography
Gabriel Scognamillo (1906–1974) was an Italian-American art director and production designer. He began his film career in France, where he worked on several early sound films including Jean Renoir's La Chienne (1931).
He moved to Hollywood in the mid-1930s and was under contract at MGM from 1934 to 1942 and again from 1949 to 1953. His credits there include The Merry Widow (1934), series entries such as the Andy Hardy and Maisie films, The Story of Three Loves (1953), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, and later work on 7 Faces of Dr. Lao (1964).
Scognamillo's final screen credits were in the late 1960s, including production design on Angel, Angel, Down We Go (1969).
