Biography
Gabrielle Fontan (16 April 1873 – 8 September 1959) was a French film actress. She appeared in more than 120 films between 1927 and 1959.
She is credited as La vieille dame dans l'escalier in Daybreak (1939) and as La Grand' Mère in A Day in the Country (1946). Other notable roles include the mother superior in Les Misérables (1958), Marie Tatin in Maigret and the St. Fiacre Case (1959), and parts in Carnival of Sinners (1943), Love Is My Profession (1958), Deadlier Than the Male (1956), Manon (1949), Monsieur Vincent (1947) and Gates of the Night (1946).
