Biography
Gabrielle Hamilton was a British actress whose screen career spanned more than sixty years. Born Gabrielle Mary Hamilton on 16 June 1923 in Edmonton, Middlesex, she first appeared on television in the early 1950s and continued working into her nineties.
She appeared in numerous television series and films, including Cranford (1972), Wives and Daughters (1971), Jack the Ripper (1973) and Great Expectations (1959). In 1994 she played Anna Wiley in the BBC comedy series Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge. Hamilton also worked extensively in theatre, including productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and performed the role of Miss Marple on stage.
