Biography
Gary Cockrell was an American actor. Born Gary Allen Cockrell on 4 December 1932 in St Louis, Missouri, he trained as a dancer and choreographer before turning to acting. He appeared in the London production of West Side Story and made his screen debut in the early 1960s.
He is known for his role as Richard T. 'Dick' Siller in Stanley Kubrick's Lolita (1962). Other film credits include The War Lover (1962), The Americanization of Emily (1964), The Bedford Incident (1965) and Twilight's Last Gleaming (1977). On television he appeared in episodes of The Saint (1962) and The Persuaders! (1971).
In 1964 Cockrell opened a dance studio in London, which he ran until 1977. He later retired from acting and moved with his wife Marie to St Lucia, where they opened a hotel. He died on 26 October 2018 in Davenport, Florida.
