Biography
Gary Hailes is an English actor born on 4 November 1965 in London. He began acting after attending the Anna Scher Children's Theatre in Islington in 1978 and was educated at Holloway School.
Hailes is best known for playing Barry Clark in the BBC soap opera EastEnders from 1986 to 1989, with a return appearance in 2022. The character formed one half of the series' first gay couple alongside Colin Russell. He also appeared in Grange Hill and other 1980s television series.
His later credits include the role of Donnie McKinney in the series Luther (2019), appearances in The Bill, Casualty and the film Small Time Obsession (2000), and an uncredited part in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015). He has also worked in theatre and radio.
