Biography
Geeta Malik is an American director and writer. She is an alumna of UCLA’s graduate film programme and grew up in Aurora, Colorado.
Malik wrote and directed the feature film India Sweets and Spices (2021), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released theatrically by Bleecker Street. She also directed the feature Troublemaker (2011) and several short films, including Aunty Gs (2004) and Shameless (2013).
Her television directing credits include an episode of Abbott Elementary (2023). She has received the inaugural Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, the Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting and the Austin Film Festival Comedy Screenplay Award. Malik was selected for the Warner Bros. Television Directors’ Workshop and has participated in mentorship programmes including Ryan Murphy’s HALF Initiative.
