Biography
Georg H. Schnell, also credited as G. H. Schnell and Georg Heinrich Schnell, was a German actor. He was born on 11 April 1878 in Tschifu (now Yantai), China, and died on 31 March 1951 in West Berlin.
After acting training, Schnell began his stage career in 1903 at the municipal theatre in Elbing. He later performed in Düsseldorf, Strasbourg and Munich, served in the First World War, and from 1919 worked mainly in Berlin, appearing in productions directed by Max Reinhardt.
Between 1919 and 1943 he appeared in around 130 films, usually in supporting roles. He is known for playing shipowner Harding in F. W. Murnau’s Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922) and a member of the punch-bowl circle in Die Feuerzangenbowle (1944).
