Biography
George O. Petrie was an American actor whose career spanned radio, stage, film and television from the 1940s to the 1990s. He was born on 16 November 1912 in New Haven, Connecticut, graduated from the University of Southern California and served in the US Army during the Second World War.
Petrie began on stage, appearing in Broadway productions including Winged Victory (1943). His film credits include Hud (1963) as Joe Scanlon, Gypsy (1962) and Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987). On television he had recurring roles in The Honeymooners, portrayed Harv Smithfield in Dallas (1978–1991) and appeared in series such as The Twilight Zone, The Munsters, The Addams Family and Mad About You.
