Biography
Gerald Gouriet is a British composer and barrister. Born in Scotland in the twentieth century, he grew up in England and studied at the Royal College of Music from the age of sixteen, training in conducting under Adrian Boult and composition under Nadia Boulanger. He later qualified as a barrister, practising from 1974 and becoming Queen's Counsel in 2006.
Gouriet composed music for several films in the late 1980s and 1990s, often in collaboration with director John Schlesinger. His credits include Madame Sousatzka (1988), Timescape (1992), A Question of Attribution (1991), The Innocent (1993), Philadelphia Experiment II (1993) and Men of War (1994). He received a Golden Globe nomination for best original score for Madame Sousatzka and an Ivor Novello nomination for A Question of Attribution.
