Biography
Gibb McLaughlin was an English stage and film actor. He began his career as a comedian and monologist in music halls before appearing in films from 1921. He is credited in more than 100 productions, often in supporting character roles.
McLaughlin played Godwin in The Lavender Hill Mob (1951) and the French executioner in The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933). Other notable appearances include Mr Sowerberry in Oliver Twist (1948), Tudsbury in Hobson's Choice (1954) and roles in Night and the City (1950) and The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934). He had a rare leading role as J. G. Reeder in Mr Reeder in Room 13 (1938). He was married to Eleanor Morton from 1915 and died in 1961.
