Biography
Gigi Proietti, also credited as Luigi Proietti, was an Italian actor, voice actor, comedian, singer and television presenter. Born in Rome on 2 November 1940, he died there on 2 November 2020.
He made his cinema debut in 1966 in Pleasant Nights and gained early recognition on stage and television. Proietti achieved widespread success with his one-man show A me gli occhi, please (1976) and in the film Horse Fever (1976) as Bruno "Mandrake" Fioretti. He appeared in international productions including The Appointment (1969), A Wedding (1978) and Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (1978).
Later credits include Il maresciallo Rocca on television and the role of Mangiafuoco in Matteo Garrone's Pinocchio (2019), his final film release before his death.
