Biography
Gila von Weitershausen is a German actress. She was born Gisela Freiin von Weitershausen on 21 March 1944 in Trebnitz, Silesia (now Trzebnica, Poland). She trained at the Neue Münchner Schauspielschule and began her career with stage work and small screen roles in the 1960s.
She gained popularity in the late 1960s through German comedy films, including a leading role in Engelchen - oder die Jungfrau von Bamberg (1968). Notable film credits include the part of Freda, a prostitute, in Louis Malle's Murmur of the Heart (1971), and a role in Volker Schlöndorff's Circle of Deceit (1981). She also appeared as Rowena in the British television series Arthur of the Britons (1972–1973) and featured in numerous German television productions, such as episodes of Derrick and Das Traumschiff.
Von Weitershausen was married to actor Martin Lüttge from 1966 to 1972 and to Hartmut Wahle from 1994 until his death in 2020. She had a relationship with director Louis Malle from 1970 to 1973; their son, Manuel, was born in 1971.
