Biography
Gilles Margaritis (1912–1965) was a French actor, director and television producer. Born in Paris, he began his film career in 1934 with small roles as a chauffeur in Robert Bresson's Les Affaires publiques and as the peddler in Jean Vigo's L'Atalante.
He had a background as a musical comedy performer on stage. In the 1950s he moved into television, creating, writing, directing and producing variety shows, most notably La Piste aux étoiles, which continued after his death. He was married to Hélène Margaritis.
