Biography
Gilles Taurand is a French screenwriter and writer. Born in Paris in 1943, he began his career as a novelist in the early 1960s before working as a clinical psychologist and teacher. He entered screenwriting in the late 1970s, co-writing Hôtel des Amériques (1981) with André Téchiné.
Taurand has collaborated frequently with Téchiné, co-writing Wild Reeds (1994), for which he shared a César Award for Best Original Screenplay or Adaptation, and later films including Thieves (1996). Other credits include Dry Cleaning (1997), The Beautiful Person (2008), Farewell, My Queen (2012) and Heal the Living (2016). He received the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres distinction in 2004.
