Biography
Gints Zilbalodis is a Latvian filmmaker, animator and composer. Born on 13 April 1994 in Riga, he is self-taught and began making animated shorts as a child, later studying multimedia design.
His debut feature Away (2019) was made almost entirely alone, with Zilbalodis directing, writing, animating, editing and composing the score. His second feature Flow (2024), for which he again served as director, writer, editor, cinematographer, producer and co-composer, was made with a wider team at Dream Well Studio and international co-producers.
Zilbalodis has also directed several short films including Aqua (2012), Oasis (2017) and Rush (2010). Flow won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
