Biography
Giorgio Agamben is an Italian philosopher and occasional actor. Born in Rome on 22 April 1942, he studied law at the Sapienza University of Rome, graduating in 1965.
While a student he appeared as the apostle Filippo in Pier Paolo Pasolini's film The Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964). He has since become known for his writings on political philosophy, including concepts such as the state of exception, biopolitics and homo sacer.
