Biography
Godfrey Gao was a Taiwanese-Canadian model and actor. Born Tsao Chih-hsiang in Taipei on 22 September 1984, he moved with his family to North Vancouver, British Columbia, as a child and later studied at Capilano University.
He began his career in Taiwan as a model and actor, appearing in television series. In 2011 he became the first Asian male model signed for a Louis Vuitton campaign. His international film role was as Magnus Bane in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013). He also appeared in Shanghai Fortress (2019) and other Chinese productions.
Gao died on 27 November 2019 in Ningbo, China, aged 35, while filming a television series.
