Biography
Gordon Mitchell (born Charles Allen Pendleton; 29 July 1923 – 20 September 2003) was an American actor and bodybuilder. He is known for starring roles in Italian sword-and-sandal films and Spaghetti Westerns after moving to Italy in the early 1960s.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Mitchell served in the US Army during the Second World War, where he was taken prisoner, and later during the Korean War. He obtained a degree from the University of Southern California and worked as a high school teacher and guidance counsellor in Los Angeles before becoming involved in bodybuilding and appearing as an extra in several Hollywood films.
Mitchell found success in Italy in peplum films and remained there to work in other genres. His credits include Fellini Satyricon (1969) as Il predone, Spartacus (1960) and Rio Bravo (1959) in uncredited roles, and later films such as The Umbrella Coup (1980).
