Biography
Gordon Richards (1893–1964) was an English actor with a career spanning stage, film and television. Born in Gillingham, Kent, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began performing in London's West End in 1909. He made his Broadway debut in 1913 and appeared in numerous plays and musicals there until 1951, also undertaking national tours.
From 1942 to 1956 he appeared in 35 Hollywood films, usually in supporting or uncredited character roles. Notable credits include Sir Joshua Reynolds in Kitty (1945), Colonel Von Meyer in Women in the Night (1948) and Dexter-Haven's Butler in High Society (1956). He also worked in television, with appearances in series such as Maverick.
