Biography
Greta Schröder (27 June 1892 – 8 June 1980) was a German actress. She is best known for her role as Ellen in the 1922 silent film Nosferatu.
She made her stage debut at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin under Max Reinhardt and appeared in her first film, Die Insel der Seligen, in 1913. Schröder also wrote screenplays, including the German adaptation of Das Phantom der Oper (1916). Her other credits include a role in The Golem: How He Came into the World (1920). She was married to actor and director Ernst Matray (divorced 1921) and later to actor Paul Wegener (divorced). Her screen work continued into the 1950s, though roles became less frequent after the 1930s.
